Lighting

Lighting design in the home is an important consideration as it can affect the mood, ambiance, and functionality of a space. Some key factors to consider include the type and placement of fixtures, the use of natural light, and the use of dimmer switches to adjust the lighting as needed. It is also important to consider energy efficiency and the use of LED bulbs or other energy-saving options.

Today, I wanted to discuss OVERSIZED and BOLD Lighting in key places in the home - over the island and over the table. These are the places to play with your design.

I snapped this picture of a home under construction with wonderfully LARGE pendant lights over the kitchen island. (Don’t worry the cord will straighten out over time. Gravity works.) These 15” wide pendant lights make a statement in this room! Now, I know this won’t be for everyone, but that’s ok. Let me show you they look in a house you don’t have to pay for. But let me encourage you to consider taking the risk of going bold with your lighting selection.

You will see a mixed metal design here. Satin Nickel and Black pulls with Black Lighting. The tiny, white penny tiles of the backsplash and neutral canvas of this kitchen give space for bold lighting. So what do you think?

Are you still unsure? Well, there is more! Who doesn’t love a coordinating Dining Light? Coordination (not matching) is the key here. The black and round design are what tie these two fixtures together.

Large, bold light fixtures can definitely change the look of a space. They can add a stylish and modern touch to a room, or create a cozy and intimate atmosphere. It all depends on the style and design of the lights, as well as where they are placed in the room.

I lean a little more traditional but yet comtemporary. This dining light makes me smile everytime I see it.

Lighting is the jewelry of the home! Do you like large statement jewelry or sublte, classic pieces? Your lighting selection should reflect your style. If you like BIG, then go BIG! This designer did and someday soon someone will walk into this home and fall in love!
